CITY TOURNAMENT
The "C" league city tournament will start on Friday, Sept. 18th. The first two rounds of the tourny should be finished on Sept. 28th. The double elimination round is scheduled to start on Wednesday, Sept. 30th.
LD TAKES 1ST PLACE
Line Drive ended the season at 15-3, which put us in a three-way tie for 1st place. We had our tie breaker on Wednesday night. Our first game was against the Dragons and we beat them 14-6. This guaranteed us at least second place. Since we won the first one we had to play Express Electric for first place. We gave them an ass whoopin' 22-4 in only four innings. This gives us the first place trophy for Tuesday Night East. The trophy will be handed out at the banquet which will probably be sometime in October or November. Tickets should be $10 for all the food you can eat and all the beer you can drink.
LD MAKES HEADLINES
Our game against the Dragons made front page of The Hour's sports section (July 15, 1998). Unfortunately we lost the close game by a single run. It was still a nice article and great photo of Brian Richmond.
IMPROVE the WEBSITE
Send the webmaster some email on ways to improve this site. This site was created for the players and fans of Line Drive. We are softball fanatics as you can tell by the site. Most of the guys love to check out their stats and we will try to provide as many as we can. Any volunteers to keep the scorebook?
TEAM TRIVIA
Who recorded the first hit in team history? How about the first double play? How did the team form? When did the team form? Where did the name come from? These and other questions are answered in our trivia section.
The TROPHY ROOM
Well we don't need a whole room I guess, cause there's only one. It was the team's first tournament and we won 1st place. Congratulations Team!
TEAM LEADERS
Find out who's leading the team in hits, average, RBI's, doubles, runs scored, putouts, etc. See how you compare to the rest of the team. Each category winner will enter the Hall of Fame as the leader for the year. The stats are for our regular season players only, which means only Tuesday night games will be ranked.
PLAYER AWARDS
Each season we will hand out small awards for the top performers on the team. The two top awards are Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. These awards are picked by the players not by the coaches or stats. Cast your vote now on who you think should earn these top honors.
FINAL STATS
Where did you finish?
The regular season is over and the stats are finished. Jim Hall finished the season with the most 1st place finishes capturing five 1st place titles out of fourteen which included: batting average, RBI's, HR, slugging percentage, and on base average. Dan Kruy also had four 1st place finishes which included: hits, singles, triples, and runs scored. Just what a leadoff hitter is supposed to do. For a quick glance at the top 3 of each category click here.
GOLDEN BAT
Player of the Week

Frank Veneziano earned the last gold bat award for the season as he went 4-for-5 in Tuesday nite's game. He had three singles, a double, six RBI's, scored four times, and was 4-for-4 with runners in scoring position. A fine way to end the season.

GOLDEN GLOVE
Player of the Week
Brian Richmond earned the top defensive award. He recorded five putouts and one assist. He leads the team
WHO'S on DECK
Our next game will probably be on Wednesday, Sept. 16th against The Usual Suspects. This is a playoff game for the Tuesday night champion.
SOFTBALL CARDS
Check out the players on the team with their own baseball card. Just like the Pros. Complete with height, weight, position, date of birth, place of birth, and email address. Also on the page are all the players batting and fielding stats (game by game) and totals.
FAN CLUB
We will be taking pictures of all the fans who come to the games and post them on their own page. Come out to the game and cheer us on. GO TEAM!!! Cheerleader tryouts will begin next week.
LEAGUE STANDINGS
The Norwalk Softball League Standings. See how the rest of the league is doing. Records as of 9-18-98. These are the final records.
GOING, GOING, GONE!
Marc Thompson went deep in our last game versus Microwarehouse. It was a three-run shot in the first inning.
ALL-STAR GAME
The Annual Norwalk All-Star games will be held at Calf Pasture beach on September 12th. The 'B' League will play first at 7:30 pm followed by the 'C' League at 9:00 pm. Since we were tied for second place at the deadline we can only send one player. Representing Line Drive will be Dan Kruy, so everyone from our team should attend to cheer Dan on. Tickets are $5 (I think) and can be bought at the event.
TEAM PRACTICE
We will be having a team practice every Thursday at Ponus Ridge Middle School on Hunter Lane at 6 pm. Remember you will never improve from playing just in games. In a game you take only 3 or 4 swings and field only a few balls if any. Not to mention doing it all under pressure. The place to get better and stay on top of your game is at practice. Don't wait until you go into a slump to start showing up.
WEATHER REPORT

For game cancellations please call the Norwalk City Recreation Dept. at 854-7938 for a recorded message. If there is no message the game has not been cancelled and everyone should show up at the field on time. Which is thirty minutes (not five) before the scheduled game time.
